Lac-phe is produced through the interaction of two compounds:

  1. Lactate: Released during exercise

  2. Phenylalanine: An amino acid

The intensity of the exercise directly correlates with the amount of lac-phe produced. In other words, the harder you work out, the more lac-phe your body generates.

Importantly, the researchers found that lac-phe is not unique to mice. This molecule is also present in humans and horses, suggesting its effects may be widespread across various species.
